Parent Expectations
Parents, your role in your child’s musical development is extremely important. You will foster success by doing the following:
Provide an 88-key piano (acoustic* or digital**) in good working condition on which your son or daughter will practice
*Acoustic pianos need to be tuned and serviced every six months
**Digital pianos must have full-size, weighted keys to develop proper technique
Encourage your child to practice daily
Listen to different types of music with your child (Classical, Jazz, Choral, Solo, Opera, Musical Theater, Folk, Sacred Chants, Bluegrass, etc.)
Keep abreast of your child’s schedule to balance piano practice and other activities
