Parent Expectations

Parents, your role in your child’s musical development is extremely important. You will foster success by doing the following:

  • Provide an 88-key piano (acoustic* or digital**) in good working condition on which your son or daughter will practice

*Acoustic pianos need to be tuned and serviced every six months

**Digital pianos must have full-size, weighted keys to develop proper technique

  • Encourage your child to practice daily

  • Listen to different types of music with your child (Classical, Jazz, Choral, Solo, Opera, Musical Theater, Folk, Sacred Chants, Bluegrass, etc.)

  • Keep abreast of your child’s schedule to balance piano practice and other activities
